This is a very expensive product if you buy it at the store, as I did. But if your regular power supply isn’t working for your laptop, as mine quit doing for my Toshiba (and long ago started acting up with my Dell), this power supply will work. You have to follow the instructions in the booklet provided, though–this is not a plug-and-play power adapter, which at first led me to believe I had wasted $100. But on the back of the product, it says it works with Dell, Toshiba, Sony, HP, Compaq, Lenovo, Fujitsu, Gateway, etc, and I had found two adapters in the package that fit both my Toshiba and Dell (there are many different sizes included). I didn’t understand why the supply wouldn’t work with either of my laptops.
After reading the booklet, I saw that you have to either have your laptop in standby/hibernate/sleep or turned off before you hook up the power supply, and then your laptop will recognize it. Once I put both laptops on standby mode and then plugged in the power supply, both laptop batteries started charging and recognizing the power supply. The power supply fits great, does not fall out and feels pretty strong. You do not need to go through the standby/turn off process after the first time, either–if you unplug the supply from your laptop, it will be recognized the next time you plug it back in.
Despite the store price, I’m pretty happy with this. Just see if you can find it cheaper online.

–Rocketfish AC Adapter and Power Cord–
PROS: Like the other reviewers, I think it’s a good quality power cord and one that’s versatile enough for different equipment. No complaints in the quality department.
CONS: I bought the Rocketfish power adapter to replace a destroyed standard HP Pavilion power cord. Compared to my old HP adapter and cord, the Rocketfish is thicker, a bit heavier, and the cord is SHORTER. These may seem like minor compaints unless you take your computer on the go a lot, in which case you could get a bit tired of the trip-hazard-length of the cord and the bulky weight of the adapter. Here’s the biggest dillema: for some reason, this power cord will NOT CHARGE my laptop. It powers it just fine, but it will not provide a charge. This could be a wierd glitch with my own computer. Nonetheless, I’m still using the Rocketfish!

I wanted to try some different charger after my original dell charger stopped working.
So I ordered this charger.
It works well and not so expensive as dell chargers.
Good thing for those who use/carry different laptops.

I put the tip on and the exposed contact that sits to one site of the tip receptacle bent as I pushed down the tip… it was obviously then sticking out to one side (I was trying the other tips in case the tip was the problem). I had to manually rebend the contact down into the tip receptacle at the end of the cord, since I could see that it needed to bend in when the tip attached. I have never seen a poorer design for a changeable tip.
Cord from adapter brick to laptop is much too short, even on a standard table with your laptop sitting in a normal position the brick will not reach the floor.

Not only did this work with my somewhat obscure model Gateway, but to replace my old charger would have been over three times the price if I’d bought one that listed my model as something specific to it’s capabilities.
This charger is a fantastic deal, it works better for me than the charger that my Gateway originally came with, and as an extra bonus, it doesn’t get nearly as hot as the original charger did. Very highly recommended.
